Overview
Fret & Key (“the App”) is developed by Curious Media, Inc. (“Curious Media,” “we,” “us”). This policy explains what information the App does and does not collect, how the microphone is used, and how in-app purchases are handled. The App is built to need as little of your data as possible — there is no user account, no login, and no server that the App talks to as part of normal use.
Information we do not collect
Fret & Key does not require or ask you to create an account. We do not collect your name, email address, location, or any other personal information. The App contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking software of any kind, and it does not share data with anyone because it does not collect data to share in the first place.
Microphone access
When you open the tuner, the chord detector (“What's This Chord?”), or the key finder, the App asks for permission to use your device's microphone. iOS shows this exact explanation when it asks:
“Fret & Key uses the microphone to detect the pitch of the string you're tuning.”
In every case, that audio is analyzed in real time, entirely on your device, purely to detect pitch and musical content. Fret & Key does not record, save, upload, or transmit microphone audio anywhere, and no audio ever leaves your device. You can revoke microphone access at any time in iOS Settings; the rest of the App keeps working normally without it — only the tuner, chord detector, and key finder need it.
In-app purchases
Fret & Key offers a single one-time purchase (“Full Unlock”) handled entirely by Apple's StoreKit. Your payment details are handled directly by Apple and are never seen or stored by us. The App stores only the fact that a purchase was made, locally on your device, and uses Apple's Restore Purchases mechanism (tied to your Apple ID) to bring that back on a new device.
Data stored on your device
Your preferences — things like your chosen instrument, tuning, capo position, and display settings — are saved locally on your device using standard iOS app storage, so the App remembers your setup between launches. This data is not uploaded to us or to any third party. It may be included in your device's own iCloud or iTunes backup, the same as any other app's local data, entirely under Apple's and your control, not ours.
Children's privacy
Fret & Key is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children — because the App does not collect personal information from any user in the first place.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the “Last updated” date above and post the revised policy at this same address. Continued use of the App after a change means you accept the updated policy.
